Why are there two names?
International Aikido Festival include some events, like seminar and so on.
The 8th International Aikido Tournament is a content of International Aikido Festival.

Where is the venue?
Kyoto Budo Center Gymnasium. Butokuden for final day.

About the budo center and old-Butokuden
The budo center and old-Budokuden is a historical place and very famous among budo-ka.
But it is too hard to translate for me, so please see Japanese page.

Schedule
Between 20th - 23rd of September in 2009. Four days.
The year is the 30th anniversary of Tomiki Shihan's passing.
Autumn is the best season i most parts of Japan.
Japan has four distinct seasons and Kyoto has clearer differences than any other places on the archipelago.
Autumn is the best time to hold a sporting festival.

The schedule as follows;

-Dan grading for overseas participants
-International referee and judge training course
-TAIN meeting
Monday 21-Sep-2009 -Aikido seminar
-International referee and judge training course
-Opening ceremony of the Tournament / Photo shooting
-Explanation of tournament rules
-Group Embu (Children / Students / Adults)
-Preliminary rounds of tournament competition
Tuesday 22-Sep-2009 2nd day of preliminary rounds of tournament
Wenesday 23-Sep-2009 -3rd day of tournament (Finals) at Butokuden
-Special demonstration
-Award Ceremony / Party

Free Style (free/open kata, without weapon, within 2 minutes, a second uke is not allowed)
Mixed Team Event
Please note:
*1-- Enbu: Participants may enter one enbu event only (17 Randori Basic Techniques, Koryu Goshin no Kata or Free Style)
*2-- Participants may, however, enter the Mixed Team Event (enbu or randori sections) regardless of whether they have competed in one of the separate enbu events.
*3-- Referees assigned to the randori events may not take part in them as competitors; enbu judges may not compete in enbu events.


Not only players but all officials must pay registrationfee. In other words, you must pay to join the festival.
Players must pay for registrationfee and event fee.

A. Registration fee

JPY 3,000 per person (compulsory for both officials and players)
The registration fee will give attendees access to the seminars to be held during the festival. This fee will also apply to people who only wish to take part in the seminars.
